ARTisBook in Groningen is working with Subjective Edition, mapping what home means in a province whose representation has been literally drilled and quaked in recent years and creating the Subjective Atlas of Groningen, expected publising date in 2026. The goal of this program is to share and make visible the personal, but often invisible, experiences of various resident groups in Groningen in a Subjective Atlas. The background and intentions of this project were presented on October 3rd by Subjective Atlas founder Annelys de Vet who introduced the working methods and collected initial ideas, an event moderated by Sherlock Telgt. The goal of this program is to share and make visible the personal, but often invisible, experiences of various resident groups in Groningen in a Subjective Atlas. ARTisBOOK: “The public survey on earthquake damage in Groningen has made one clear: more needs to be listened to by the province’s residents. Therefore, after a period of top-down stories about Groningen, we, as Groningers, now want to take agency of the images and narratives that shape the province.”

The Subjective Atlas of Groningen is made possible by the Provincie Groningen and the Fonds voor Cultuurparticipatie. To develop the atlas, ARTisBOOK works with various partners including Academie Minerva, St. Willibrordus Primary School (Oude Pekela), Oudeschip Village Association, Kraaienest (Groningen), and Stichting De Vrolijkheid (Delfzijl AZC).
